Allen Rodden's Story
Allen Rodden Park passed away on October 26, 2016, at his residence in Salem, N.H. He was the 16th child of Philip Studley Park and Dorothy M. Rodden, late of Wilmington, Mass. He was educated in the Wilmington, Mass. schools. Later, after his military service, he attended the Fox Business College, Chicago, Ill. After returning to New England he attended Middlesex Community College for Insurance Laws and Terms. Allen was a proud Seabee, and he served with the Construction Battalion of the Navy, Builder Rate 3rd Class, Class E., later serving in Da Nang, Vietnam. While serving he received a Navy Commendation ribbon, 1966, Vietnam Medal with Combat V. He later received his honorable discharge. After service he decided to reside in Illinois with his sister, Ruth and husband, James A. Fuss. During his five years residency of Evergreen Park, he became very active as a Senior Vice Commander of the Oak Lawn Veterans of Illinois. He later returned to New Hampshire with his brother, Ronald E. Park, late of Pelham, N.H. They formed Park Bros. Carpentry and Masonry. For entertainment, Allen loved to sing and view country and western music, travel, cook, cater, deep sea fishing, but most of all, he loved to be of service to others. He was a fantastic brother and friend to many, leaving his mark with everybody that he came in touch with. While in Ireland or Switzerland, he could come up with a yodel for anyone who might be listening. In later life as time permitted, he took his mother and others for destination unknown short trips around New England. What a joy that was for all. He will be greatly missed.
