Andrew L.'s Story
Andrew Laird Maclachlan, 88, of East Kingston, died at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on June 27, 2016. He was born November 9, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Andrew Dugald and Muriel (Sutherland) Maclachlan.
While still in high school, he moved with his family to Melrose. Andy met his wife, Phyllis Lowe (Winde) while in high school and they were married 67 years ago at First Congregational Church in Melrose. After high school, he served aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Campbell. Andy graduated from Harvard University in the class of 1951. He worked in the steel industry as a manufacturer’s representative for many years and later was owner and president of Winde-McCormick, Inc. in Woburn.
Andy is survived by his wife, Phyllis, daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Maclachlan and Frederick Healey of West Newbury; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kathleen of Bremen, Maine; granddaughter and partner, Lauren Maclachlan and Michael Iffland of Lee, N.H.; grandson, Douglas Maclachlan of Portland, Maine; great-grandson, Lothian Andrew Maclachlan of Portland, Maine; and sister, Mora Maclauclan of Washington state.
