Beatrice Gurley’s Story:
Beatrice Caroline (Purdy) Gurley, 94-years-old, transitioned peacefully in the loving care at the Medical Care Facility in Mount Pleasant, Mich., on July 9, 2017.
She was born in Plymouth, N.S. Calif., on January 18, 1923. The daughter of the late John F. Purdy and Nellie C. (Nickerson) Purdy. Beatrice was raised in Malden, Mass. and Derry, N.H, where she graduated from Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1941. She married her late husband, Harold R. Gurley and had three children, and later moved to Farmingdale, Maine. After retirement Beatrice moved with her family, including FL, PA, TN, and MI.
Beatrice is survived by her sons, William Gurley (Billy) and Richard Gurley (Rick) and daughter, Linda (Gurley) Traum, Natalie William's wife, Gwen, Richard's wife and Marc, Linda's husband, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; also adored by several nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Harold Gurley, her parents, John and Nellie Purdy, brother, Sumner Purdy and sister Edna (Purdy) Dick.
