ORLANDO, FL: Legendre, Dorothy (Dottie) Legendre, 94, of Orlando, Fla., passed away Friday, October 23, peacefully in her home with family and friends by her side. Dottie was born the only child to Cecil and Rilla Wells on July 15, 1921 in the small town of Derry, N.H. She was raised in Derry and attended Pinkerton Academy. Dottie would later wed and have seven children. Dottie owned and operated her own hat shop in the small town. After raising her children in Derry she moved to Florida in 1976 at the age of 55. Settling in Florida, Dottie began her career as a travel agent and retired after 20 years. Dottie also was a very big influence in her son’s campaign to become Judge in Osceola County. She worked seamless hours walking door to door campaigning and showing the county why she supported him. After retiring, Dottie spent several hours volunteering at the local Orange/Osceola County Schools along with giving her time during elections at the precincts. Dottie had a love for travel and was an adventuress women. Her last adventure at the age of 94 was riding the Orlando eye alongside her family.
Dottie was preceded in death by her father, Cecil and mother Rilla, first born child and great-grandchild, Jaden. Dottie leaves behind six children, Dorothy Hammill (Tom) Ontario, Canada, Bette Freer (Rick) Montross, Va., Janet Webster (Bill) Derry, N.H., Ronald Legendre (Bonnie) Kissimmee, Fla., Marian Mason (Jim) Kissimmee, Fla., Kay Doherty (Darin) Oviedo, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. All were touched by her light, molded by her influence and benefited from her generous spirit. Her faith and pride in her family where unwavering.
Dottie’s life will be celebrated by the family as follows: viewing Thursday, October 29, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, 511 Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 30, at 10 a.m. at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 700 Brown Chapel Rd. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
