Elaine's Story

DERRY, NH: Elaine A. (Wronski) Gordon, of Derry, formerly of Lowell, died June 2, 2015, in Derry, after a period of declining health, aged 93 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford R. Gordon.

Born in Billerica, Mass., December 9, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Albina (Kus) Wronski. She received her early education in the Billerica school system and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1939, where she held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Girl Officers Regiment.

Elaine worked as a yarn girl at Ames Worsted Mills for a time. In 1951, she became associated with Raytheon as an Assembler, was later promoted to Group Leader, and at the time of her retirement in 1984, held the position of storekeeper.

She and Clifford enjoyed many years of traveling extensively around the world. In her younger years, Mrs. Gordon also enjoyed arts and crafts, and was especially fond of flower gardening.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin Gordon and his wife, Diane of Derry, and Kent Gordon of Sanford, Maine; seven grandchildren, Raymond Gordon and his wife, Tammy, Charles Gordon, Lisa Gordon, Linda Mitchem and her husband, Jeffrey, Bryan Gordon and his wife, Denise, Katie Gordon and Jennifer Gordon; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Rose, Makayla, Gary, Lillian and Grant, and a great-great-granddaughter, Alexa; a sister, Lucy Petullo and her husband, Tony of Lowell; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Karen Gordon, and sister of the late Emmanuel Wronski, Albin Wronski, Irene Spencer and Helen Ceci.

Mrs. Gordon’s graveside service was held on June 9 at Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
