SALEM, NH: Irene H. (Houle) Derouin, 89, of Salem, N.H., died Friday at Fairview Nursing Home, Hudson, N.H.
She was born in Laconia, N.H., and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Lumina (Demers) Derouin. She grew up and was educated in Lawrence, Mass. She was a longtime Salem resident.
Irene retired from Lucent in North Andover, Mass., where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, where she was in the Women’s Guild. She was also a former member of the Lady Lions in Salem. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening, cooking, crafts, and loved babies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Derouin; and two sons, Kenneth and Richard Derouin. She is survived by her sons, Ronald and his wife, Jean Derouin of Punta Gorda, Fla., Wayne and his wife, Karen Derouin of North Conway, N.H., Gary and his wife, Lynda Derouin of Londonderry, N.H.; daughters, Linda Andrews of Methuen, Mass., Debra and her husband, Daniel Abate of Derry, N.H.; sister, Pauline Jean of Derry; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Salem, N.H. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem. Calling hours were held Tuesday, June 16, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem.
