MONROE, GA: John Yencha of Monroe, Ga. and formerly of Chester, N.H., passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015. John was born to John and Mary Yencha in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on May 20, 1930.
John was very active in the Monroe community. He served as President of the Monroe Art Guild, was secretary of the Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors for Faith In Serving Humanity. While living in Chester, he was a Selectman on the Zoning Board and also in the Lions Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Claire Hanson Yencha; daughters, Debi (Dave) Barka of Derry, N.H. and Susan (Richard) Hummel of Savannah, Ga.; his grandchildren, Anissa (Mike) McGivern, Joseph (Nicole) Barka, Nicholas Barka and Richard Hummel and his wife, Lexi; great-grandchildren, Finnigan McGivern, Madeline McGivern and Trinity Hummel. He also has two brothers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Edward Yencha and family and Myron Yencha and family. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Yencha, also of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Monroe, Ga.
