Kenneth Donovan, age 94, died April 10, 2016 in Andover.
Ken was born in Medford to Harold Russell Donovan and his wife Margaret. He attended Tufts University until he was drafted into the Army in 1942. While serving in the Army Air Corps in 1943, he met and married his wife, Elizabeth (“Jimmy”, née Sweeten). They were married for over 60 years, until her death in 2004. Ken lived in Wilmington, Del. for 70 years. He was a longtime member of Concord Presbyterian Church, and later Limestone Presbyterian Church. Ken was an expert duplicate bridge player, awarded the Gold Life Master designation.
He is survived by his children: son, H. Russell II and his wife, Mary; son, Mark and his wife, Sue; son, Dewey and his wife, Jane; daughter, Claire Shoaie and her husband, Farhad; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife; his brother, Russell B.; his grandson, Andrew; and his great-granddaughter, Scarlett.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494; or to the Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
