Text size

Mary Ann Elizabeth Bembridge (nee Ricketts) died in her home with her husband and son by her side on June 12, 2016 in Whiting, N.J. from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. She was 68.
Mary Ann was born on December 26, 1947 in Auburn, N.Y. to her parents, Robert E. and Agnes J. Ricketts. She graduated from Plainedge High School in Massapequa, N.Y. She married Sidney Bembridge in 1969. The Bembridges spent most of their life together on Beech Hill Drive in Londonderry, N.H. with their two sons, Daniel Alan and Brian Sidney.
In Londonderry, Mary Ann was active in a number of civic groups, and truly shaped the welcoming and engaging landscape of the community through her leadership in the Women's Club, Girl Scouts, Dollars for Scholars, and as founder of the Londonderry Musical and Drama Company, among countless others. Mary Ann served as a second mother to many on Beech Hill Drive, and is remembered for her sincerity, love and acceptance of all, and booming and heartfelt laughter that could be heard across town, and is still felt in our hearts.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Sidney Bembridge of Whiting, N.J.; her sons, Daniel Alan Bembridge of San Tan Valley, Ariz. (Nakita Bembridge) and Brian Sidney Bembridge of Chicago, Ill. (Ryan T. Robinson and Jacqueline A. Finch); her brother, David Ricketts of Sherrill, N.Y.; her sister, Jeanie A. Kraus of Mechanicsville, Va.; and her grandchildren, Carson and Natasha Bembridge of San Tan Valley, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Agnes J. Ricketts; and her brother, Jon H Ricketts.
Memorials in celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held in Whiting, N.J. and in Londonderry, N.H. Mary Ann was always the first to give and lend a hand to others. In the true spirit of giving as Mary Ann gave to everyone in her life, in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charitable organization in Mary Ann’s name.
