BELGRADE LAKES, ME: Robert A. “Bob” Early, 78, of Belgrade Lakes, Maine, died September 5, 2015, at the VA Hospice Unit at Togus, Maine after an extended illness, ALS. He was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 15, 1937, the son of George A. Early and Catherine Flynn Early.
Bob was a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from New Hampshire College. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Early worked in many capacities in the computer field. He also served the communities in which he lived.
In Londonderry, N.H. he was elected to the Board of Selectmen for 12 years. He was on the Airport Authority and was instrumental in the construction of Manchester Airport. Most of all he enjoyed and cared about people.
He is survived by his wife Arlene Early of Belgrade Lakes, Maine; his daughter, Shana Christianson and her husband, Earle of Gorham, Maine; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Ainsley also of Gorham; a special nephew, Michael Bolduc and his wife, Piper, a nephew, Kevin Bolduc and his wife, Darlene, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Bob was blessed with many supportive friends and loved ones.
There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Notre Dame Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville, Maine. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade, Maine. Memorial donations may be made to either: Hospice and Palliative Care Unit, VA Maine Healthcare System, 1 VA Center (171) Augusta, ME 04330, or The ALS Association, Northern New England Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 309, Concord, NH 03301.
