Robert A. Shaver Sr., 99, of Hudson, died peacefully at his home on August 18, 2017 surrounded by his caregiver, granddaughters and ever watchful son Robert.
He was born on February 24, 1918 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a son of the late Alexander and Laverna Shaver.
Mr. Shaver was predeceased by his wife, M. Anne (Kilbride) Shaver of 75 years. They shared over 70 years of marriage.
Bob worked in the wood packaging industry for most of his career. He had worked for several companies including General Electric, IBM and General Bearing.
He is remembered a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His stories of delivering mail to President Roosevelt in Hyde Park, N.Y. will be missed by his great grandchildren.
Mr. Shaver is survived by his son, Robert A. Shaver, Jr. and his wife, Judith of Londonderry, N.H.; his grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Thomas Groulx of Litchfield, N.H., Jennifer and her husband Colin Roach of Pembroke, N.H.; and his great-grandchildren, Thomas, Paige, Caleb and Matthew.
A Memorial Service in his honor was held at the Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment prayers and burial will be private and held at the convenience of his family. He will be interred with his wife in Shavertown, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Home Health and Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack NH 03054 (www.hhhc.org).
