Early in his life, Sonny discovered his true love and passion for cooking and later went on to start a cooking and baking career with his brother-in-law, Mike, in the North End. Sonny then moved on to be a chef at Augustine’s Restaurant in Saugus, Mass., Addison Gilbert Hospital, the Gull Restaurant, and lastly at Flav’s Restaurant in Rockport, Mass., before officially retiring and moving on to Derry, N.H., or as Sonny would say, ”The Sticks.”
Sonny won many awards at the Essex Clam Fest for his famous clam chowder. When he wasn’t cooking he could be found fishing, playing pool and video games with his grandson and singing karaoke, where he was properly known at the “Fisherman.”
Sonny was an old movie buff and there wasn’t a classic he didn’t have in his collection.
He was member of the Gloucester American Legion, Captain Lester S. Wass Post #3 and the Londonderry Senior Center.
