LONDONDERRY, NH: Theresa Bastek Vogel passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 9, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Theresa’s family spent her last days at her side - sharing stories, reading from her bible, honoring her life, and expressing their love. Born September 9, 1927 in Lawrence, Theresa resided in Londonderry for 35 years and most recently at Aurora Senior Living Rehabilitation Center in Derry, where she was cared for with love and compassion.
Theresa exuded generosity and her family joked that you couldn’t compliment her on an accessory or household item without her insisting that you take it for yourself. She loved to talk, and made true friends everywhere she went. Theresa spent much of her time volunteering and helping others, most notably through her time spent at nursing homes and veterans' organizations. She was extraordinarily devoted to her husband, family, and church, and her love for her grandchildren and great-grandson was unparalleled. Theresa was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Bastek; her parents, Julia and Frank Kosmeh, and seven older siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Robert Vogel, Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen (Bastek) and William McKay, Jr. of Derry and Lisa (Bastek) and David Loiselle of Wake Forest, N.C.; two grandchildren, Sarah McKay of Stoneham, and Jesse and wife, Alison McKay of Danville; great-grandson, Jack McKay; and sister and brother-in-law, Ellen (Kosmeh) and Leo Palaimo of Northport, Fla. Theresa is also survived by her godson, Dan Palaimo, several nieces and nephews, many dear friends and neighbors, and her beloved Trinity Assembly of God community.
In lieu of flowers, Theresa’s family requests that friends consider a donation to Sonshine Soup Kitchen, an organization she supported for many years (www.sonshinesoupkitchen.org). There will be an open celebration of Theresa’s life at 11 a.m. on April 25, at Trinity Assembly of God in Derry.
