Derry - Derry - In loving memory of Leo (Gus) Joseph Gingras
It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Leo (Gus) Joseph Gingras on May 19, 2025.
Leo was more than just a husband and father; he was our confidante, mentor, hero, biggest supporter and the best husband/dad anyone could hope for. He lived life to the fullest with a smile, adventurous spirit and tremendous love for his family. Leo instilled in his family a love of travel, books and the beach. He taught us that honesty, compassion, empathy and hard work are ethical and moral values to be honored and fostered. His warmth, humor, and generosity touched all who knew him.
Leo was a lifelong Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite due to his life of service and dedication.
Leo retired after 42 years of service as Director/Superintendent of Stations for Guilford Transportation Industries. He began his love of railroading at an early age working as a clerk and spare for the Boston and Maine railroad. Leo was known for his strong work ethic, fairness, love, and knowledge of railroading.
Leo was born in Stewartstown, NH on June 8, 1932 and is survived by his loving wife, Constance Joan Gingras. He was a loving father to Vickie (Gingras) Duguay and husband, Bob of Wilmington NC, David Gingras of Derry, NH, Robert Gingras and his wife Pamela of Ewa Beach HI, Shelly (Gingras) Laventure of Phoenix AZ, and Alan Gingras and wife Serey of Derry NH. Leo was a grandfather to Ryan Duguay of Shelbyville KY, Stacey Duke of Ft. Knox KY, Danielle Morin of Methuen MA, Samantha Purkins of Chesapeake VA, Leo Gingras of Colorado, Francesca Cockrill of Bremerton, WA, Nicolas Gingras of NC, Sumner Myers of Phoenix AZ, Katie Laventure of Ewa Beach HI, Paige Thomas of Queen Creek AZ, Jake Laventure of Cottonwood Heights UT, Monique Gingras of Derry NH, and Christopher Gingras of Derry, NH. He was great-grandfather to 14 and great great-grandfather to two.
Our deepest thanks to Amedysis Hospice for their compassionate and skilled staff that helped care for him in his final month.
We will miss his sense of humor, his laughter, strength, life lessons and love.
A Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Transfiguration in Derry, NH, on June 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. Please join us to celebrate his life.
