Trinity - Trinity - Retha Ann (Martell) Carter, longtime resident of Derry, NH, passed away on Nov. 4, 2025 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Trinity, FL. She was 86 years old.

Retha was born on Aug. 2, 1939 in Lincoln Center, VT, the oldest of 5 children born to John and Christine (Sampson) Martell. She spoke fondly of memories attending a 1-room classroom and a neighbor naming a cow after her.

Retha married Leonard Salls in Sharon, VT in Nov. 1960. They had a daughter, but divorced in April 1962. Retha moved to Derry, NH shortly after and married Leo Boisoneault. They had a daughter and a son before divorcing. She later married Robert Carter.

After moving to Derry, Retha became a foster parent for several years. Her care of children became the foundation for Retha opening Mountain View Daycare, which she owned and operated for several decades before retiring to Florida in 2001.

In Florida, Retha worked at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand for many years.

Retha loved her family. She treasured attending her grandchildren's sporting events, school concerts, and plays. She loved talking on the phone with her siblings, cousins, and friends. Retha also enjoyed watching NASCAR races and baseball on TV.

Retha is predeceased by her husbands and two siblings. She is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, and many loving cousins.
