Haverhill - Shirley E. (Bateman) (Paquette) Brown, 86, formerly of Derry, NH, passed March 25, 2026 at Lawrence General Hospital following declining health. She was the wife of the late William J. Paquette and Richard Brown.
Born in Georgetown, MA on May 29, 1939, Shirley was the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Nettie E. (West) Bateman.
Early in her career Shirley worked at various shoe manufacturers in Haverhill before becoming a nurse's aid working at Hannah Duston Nursing Home, Salem Haven in Salem, NH, and Kenoza Manor Nursing Home in Haverhill. She was a former member of First Baptist Church. Shirley was a past member of the Derry Salem Elk's Club which acknowledged twenty years of dedicated service by presenting her with an award for outstanding service. She and her family enjoyed camping at Baxter State Park in ME, and in VT, socializing with her many friends, and, in quiet time, searching "word search".
Shirley is survived by her children; Nancy A. Pegnam of Merrimac, MA, Michelle Monahan and her husband Michael of Milford, NH, Denise Langlois of Haverhill; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was the mother of the late Kathleen Paquette, and the sister of the late Kathleen Patterson, Diane Felch and Alfred W. Bateman, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend Shirley's memorial service on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 11:30a.m. at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's name may be made to Copper Cannon Camp, P.O. Box 124, Franconia, NH 03580.
