Wayne B. Hartwell Obituary

Epsom - Wayne B. Hartwell, 84, of Epsom, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his residence.

Wayne was born on June 12, 1940 in Nashua to Herbert S. and Alta L. (Cutter) Hartwell.

Wayno (one of his favorite nicknames) and his friend, Don, decided to join the Marine Corps while still in their teens. He spoke very highly of his time in the Marines and was very proud of his service and the military in general, for the rest of his life. Dad was a funny and well-liked man who made friends easily and was always there to lend a hand. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching and coaching sports, riding horses and Harleys and loved any classic car. A very hard worker, he took pride in all of his endeavors. From starting several businesses from scratch to holding down the Publix Deli Counter in Beaufort, South Carolina in his later years. Wayno came back to New England to be near his family and ailing longtime companion, Ursula "Uschi" Simpson.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his ex-wife, Betty (Jesse) Hartwell, two siblings; Herbert S. Hartwell II and Marilyn Hartwell and granddaughter Amanda.

He is survived by Uschi, his children, Lee Ann Hartwell, Herbert S. Hartwell III, Kelly Jo Hartwell and Wayne Roberts, his stepsons Scott and Mark Simpson, sister Roberta, five grandchidren, seven grandchildren and his beloved dogs Schatzi and Big Guy

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, March 20th at 12 Noon at the NH State Veterans Cemetery. The Roan Family Funeral Home in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory or offer a condolence please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com
